Nature of Evil (3) – Possession?

Part 3 of the Nature of Evil (Please read Part 1 and Part 2 first, they are below, otherwise this section may not make sense)

I was always skeptical about the validity of possession, but to remain skeptical and not look at the evidence is to not understand something and thus I decided that I needed to look at this situation very closely. Psychology has always been a passion of my mine, so when I found books written by a psychiatrist on the subject of possession I had to read them. Scott Peck has written several books on this area and I have read many other books by different authors in this subject. Namely I am referring to “Glimpses of the Devil” By Scott Peck in this section. I refer to this book because I have no experience with possession and so I need to pull from someone else’s experience and respond to it. My opinions are also of course based on my own experiences with negative spirits, although at mentioned at no point did I ever feel any being had any control over me. If dismissed with authority, both “good” and “bad” guides will leave.

Just for interest’s sake, the Exorcist (movie) was written based on an actual case study of a young boy.  But to what extent it was elaborated or embellished I do not know.

So there are those in the medical field that believe possession is real, and that possession is not explainable by any other psychological diagnosis. In the actual case studies I have read nothing has come close to comparing with the images portrayed in horror movies. Rather most of the case studies involve people who are opening themselves up to faulty teachings, lose their grounding (belief in their life as their own and in their control over it), and thus are susceptible to the spirits who speak to them. It starts out just as this, the spirits begin talking to this person, and often many of them are present. Because the person already has developed a psychological disorder – this could be a self esteem issue or escapist type behaviour (although not to the extent of multiple personality disorder).

The voices eventually start to reshape the belief structure of the person. This can be good or bad (good if the voices are positive and inspire positive change). If the person having the experience does not realize that they can command these spirits away, the spirits begin to have a larger and larger impact on the way the person is thinking. A spirit that has your best intentions at heart will leave you during this time because it does not want too much influence and mess with your freewill.

Other spirits are not fully aware of what they are doing; they may even be trying to help. But since they do not have infinite knowledge and the person is not “checking” everything that is said, slowly but surely the person stops thinking for him/herself. The spirits words in the persons mind basically become the person’s only thoughts except when the spirit is not talking. The person’s personality becomes that of the spirit because the person lets them self be taken over.

Extreme cases of possession are when the person inside completely concedes to spirits and allows them to run her/his life. Whether the person is manipulated into it or not, the person gives up control of his/her life to the spirits. Since the only spirits who would stick around through this are the ones that are not very advanced spiritually it easy to see that there may be negative impact. We on the outside can see that, but we don’t understand and we draw from a flawed belief system and believe that the person is possessed by the devil.

Remember how many of us live our lives in a very negative way, and then die. These negative people are now spirits for a time and can influence lives on our planet. Eventually they will come back to earth again (or a different world, or do some learning on the astral level) to see if they can elevate their soul to a higher and more loving level.

We must realize that we control our lives. We can invite the spiritual realm into our life for advice, but we must realize that it is our life. We cannot hand over the controls. There even astral type cops who will pull guides away from us that are having a negative impact, but we need to ask for help. We must exercise our freewill. Just as it is possible for a negative person to enter our life, just because it happens does not mean we must accept it. We can ask that person (or spirit) to remove them self from our life. If they don’t leave and are causing harm we get the police involved. In the astral realm we do this by asking our guides that mean us well or our angels to remove the negative influence.

It is each one of us that chooses to act and think the way we do. We can change it. If we feel that we are being pressured by a negative force we can ask that force to leave us. There is no devil that is ultimately trying to destroy us, as for the devil to destroy us is for God to destroy us, and thus destroy a part of God’s self. Everything is of God. That said, just like on earth we have people that are more loving and those that just don’t seem to get it. This happens in the spirit realm as well…since we all end up there in between our lives, or staying there if we choose when our work on the physical plane is done.

Dr. Scott Peck is a Christian psychiatrist and his views on possession gravitated towards a diagnosis that was based in the Christian belief system. No one is wrong, in fact every single theory of good and evil and how the universe works is not really in conflict with one another, but rather some are small picture, some are larger picture, and some are pieces of other belief systems. I mention Scott Peck’s books because they were written by a scientist attempting to disprove something which we could not.

The last part of this article will simply be some additional points that need to made.  I will post it as soon as possible.
