Parable of the Talents

The bible, despite it’s controversies (to some, and total acceptance by others), is still a profoundly interesting book.  There are passages and lessons within that are very good…

Matthew 25:29
“…To everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.”

This is one of the final verses in the “Parable of the Talents,” and it offers a warning which I found interesting.

That parable is telling us that we must use the gifts that we have been given, and those gifts will multiply themselves. If we choose to live a life where we do not take full advantage of what we have been blessed with, everything will be taken away.

This is the biblical equivalent of the law of attraction -  you will receive more of what you put out in terms of thoughts and actions (or inaction)

Erma Bombeck says it pretty good…When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, “I used everything you gave me”.

Beware the path that leads to idleness and fear. In an attempt to maintain what little we have by always taking the safe route, we may lose everything. Not using what we have been blessed with is to waste a golden opportunity in life.
