A Few Quick Thoughts on Oneness

I was having a conversation today, and I realized that many people do not see the connectedness between us and earth.  Many believe that “oneness” is a strictly philosophical concept, and has nothing to do with the real world.  But this is simply not the case. Oneness is in everything, oneness is what allows us to be here in the now.

For example, trees allow us to breath, and just as it would seem preposterous for a thorn to grow grapes, I find it just as preposterous to believe that the earth is not a part of my existence.  I can’t breathe or live without the earth, therefore I must be one with it.  My body is 95% water and there is water everywhere on the planet.  The water allows me to live.  My heart pumps and lungs breath without my conscious control.  Just as the trees live and breathe without their conscious control.  It is a connection, a cycle. It seems so simple that we can easily pass this concept this over, saying “well, that is just common sense.”  Well, if it just common sense, then why don’t most of us embrace it in our life?

So it is with other people.  I cannot ever know what I am without also perceiving others.  I exist as I know I do, because you exist as you do.  And therefore you exist as you do, because I exist as I do.  While this seems philosophical, it is not philosophy at all.  It is simply what is.

When we begin to see this we start to see things in a different light.  We no longer feel as hurt by others actions, and we see beauty in everything.  I will write on this more in the future, but for now, I just thought I would post a few thoughts on it.  It is  not elegantly written, but there is an important message in here, one which we can all do well to remember every once in a while :)

Blessed be,

  1. Dear Cory,

I am joyful to read your blog on Oneness and it relates very much with my own appreciation of the unity that embraces it all. As you say, oneness is in everything. Everything exists in a unity, and a definite intuition of unity is a touch with the real or best in everything. It is a concept that applies to our everyday life realities and in this mood it is possible to enter every experience with the whole of our being, in unison with all that is.
