What You See, Is What You Get

Good People
A Yiddish Folk Tale

An old man sat outside the walls of a great city. When travelers approached, they would ask the old man, “What kind of people live in this city?” The old man would answer, “What kind of people live in the place where you came from?” If the travelers answered, “Only bad people live in the place where we came from,” the old man would reply, “Continue on; you will find only bad people here.”

But if the travelers answered, “Good people live in the place where we came from,” then the old man would say, “Enter, for here too, you will find only good people.”

This is an extremely powerful lesson.  What we choose to see, what we choose to give our focus, is what we will find.  And what we find will provide evidence for the original view.  But what we choose to see is a choice.  We can choose to see the negative in which case we will find lots of it, and it will perpetuate our negativity.

Or we can decide to see things in a positive light.  Focus on the good aspects, and you will find it.  There is lots of it.  And the more we see the more we find and that becomes our entire reality.  Evidence to support our positive view will be all around us.
