The following is a great little story and has an important point to it which will be discussed after.
Buddha reached the gate of heaven. Of course, the people there were waiting. They opened the door, they welcomed him, but he turned his back towards the door looked at the world — millions of souls on the same path, struggling, in misery, in anguish, striving to reach this gate of heaven and bliss.
The doorkeeper said, “Come in, please. We have been waiting for you”
Buddha said, “How can I come when others have not reached? It doesn’t seem to be the right time. How can I enter when the whole has not yet entered? I will have to wait.

There are those who find peace but venture back into the world to help those in need, these are the truly enlightened ones among us. Those that are willing to help others who have not found the same peace they have. This is to truly embrace the idea of oneness, for once we have realized it our self we must help bring others into the fold. For the self is part of a whole, of which others are also a part. This is to find true unity within our self – by involving everything and everyone around us.
