Recharging, Reconnecting and Rebalancing – Finding Perspective

Some days certain things seem clearer, and while going through our lives at other times these same things can seem very elusive.
You may have noticed I have not published anything lately on the topics I commonly write on for this site. Today (which was actually 2 days ago now) was my day to fully reconnect with clarity and recharge.
If you are experiencing anything difficult or simply feel you need to somehow recharge this is great way to do it. You can do it anywhere and it only need be for a short time, although in my case I took 7 hours of time for myself.
Likely many answers will come to you during this time, as you can quietly contemplate, focus and rejuvenate yourself. There may be certain things which you have never considered which will come to you, or you may gain more clarity on certain topics so they can be shared more easily with others.
This whole article is basically a prologue for upcoming content, as there were some very interesting observations I had during my day of recharging.
I left the house at 8 am and drove to a park. The park is absolutely stunning, and a place that inspires absolute awe without any effort whatsoever. Any place will do, but the more you appreciate the spot the better your results. This is because a place that you can fully appreciate, enjoy and be amazed by will provide you with vast amounts of energy. If you recall the articles on conflict, those posts discussed the transfer of energy. By appreciating something, we are giving our energy to the surroundings that we focus on. Yet all those things give energy back to us (simplistically put). Therefore, we act as a magnifying glass – the more we appreciate and send energy outwards instead of focusing that energy on our self, the more elevated we will feel.
This idea has roots in psychology, bio chemistry, quantum physics and many holist fields. Simply going out on your own to a place that is beautiful to you and appreciating the surroundings will likely elevate your spirits. Another thing I did was to ground myself. Grounding is a reconnection to the earth. For myself I find that I need to reconnect to the earth to remind myself that while we are spiritual beings, we are having a physical experience. Others may find that they struggle more with their spirituality and worry far too much about the physical. Grounding is an excellent exercise no matter what type of person we are, and reconnects us to the earth and brings us clarity in seeing the indivisibility of all life, even people (the next article will focus on this).
To ground yourself, I am going to ask you get close to nature. Take off your shoes and sit on the grass with your back against a tree. Taking off your shoes will not really affect the process, but if you are worried about getting your feet a little dirty, then possibly this simple act will demonstrate that many things which are worries are not so bad after all. So take your shoes off, feel the ground beneath your feet. Appreciate this and think for a moment how we have become so disconnected from the very earth which provides us with everything we need to live and experience physicality.
As you feel your feet on the ground, also notice the strength of the tree behind you. Even if it is covered in moss or sap, or bugs, feel the tremendous energy this tree has (pick a clean, but natural spot). It towers into the sky powered by multiple forces including the sun, the atmosphere, air, and everything else in the universe which has aligned for this exact moment where that tree could provide you with energy. That tree grew and in doing so took the place of something else that may have grown. Let your mind go, thinking back from the beginning (no matter what your beliefs on how the earth began) about how it is that after all this time, you find yourself sitting under this tree. Watch your entire evolution as a person, why is that you have come to this place? Why is it you have gone through what you have gone through? What can come of it? What do you want to come of it?
These questions can be taken as far as you want. The more you consider and look around, the more connections you will begin to see, and the more complete and reconnected you will personally feel.
Watch the animals; see how they interact with each other. What do you see? What can these interactions tell you about your own life?
Animals are one tool we can look at, another is the sun. I love the sun, and no matter how hot it is when I am in the sun I view it as a source that recharges me. I see how the sun provides life to everything on the planet and that it can also increase vitality. If we view things around as destructive, they will be destructive. The sun is viewed as destructive to some who do not respect it. Allow the sun to recharge you…recharge too much from it though and you’ll get burned. I speak metaphorically and realistically. Everything around us can be used potentially to provide us with energy when those surroundings are appreciated. But each source has a limit. Not because it cuts us off, but because our appreciation changes. Imagine for a moment you see an amazing view…this view will provide you with awe, excitement and energy for as long as you truly appreciate it. If you stop fully appreciating it, the energy flow ceases. In this way you control your energy flow.
If this seems foreign, think of a romantic relationship. Things are great when both partners appreciate each other, but when that appreciation stops, often because we overexpose ourselves to each other by cutting off other aspects of our life out (which are independent sources of energy from the relationship), we can become complacent and distressed. This is because of overexposure to a “good” thing. We stop appreciating it. This is why having independent activities is important for relationships. We need time to recharge independently of the energy which is created in a relationship – that energy can then be brought into the relationship. If a couple relies only on the energy between them, most likely that energy will begin to fade. We must pull energy from multiple sources so that we can continue to appreciate all of them. These sources include nature, our friends, animals, and potentially family (assuming energy we receive and give to them is positive). This means we do not have to avoid seeing one person, one sight or having a certain experience over and over, rather it simply means that we remember to appreciate the vastness and diversity of life when we are not having that experience or are with that person.
To keep energy levels at the highest point we must appreciate a vast diversity of things. Through this we will find clarity, we will be happier and we can be an inspiration to others.
I sat at that tree till it was time to leave…there was no reason for me to get up, except it felt like time. I walked to a bistro focusing on the sun as discussed above and pay attention to my surroundings…appreciating it.
I had a snack then lay along the beach, basically doing the same exercise but with different stimulus. There are so many beautiful things, that we have an endless supply of objects, people or perceptions which can recharge us. We can begin to be recharged by just about anything, when we force ourselves, at first, to appreciate even more. For example take a critter like the spider, which most people very much dislike. To appreciate the spider does mean you need to collect them as pets, what it means is that instead of freaking out about a spider it can be appreciated for the amazing things it can do. While spider webs may be an inconvenience at times, we can change that feeling to awe instead by looking at the intricacies of the web, the spider, the things it overcomes to survive, the structure of its body, its immense strength, speed and agility. As with the example of the sun, some things should be appreciated from a distance. And if we come across them, we should respect the nature of the thing, appreciate its skill (even if that same skill is what could kill us) and move on.
I am diverting, as usual, but these are all things which arose during my day under the canopy of trees, walking through downtown under the sun, scaling and walking along the rocky cliffs along one of the most beautiful ocean views one could imagine. This experience is one example. I simply went off by myself to explore some walkways in a park and along the ocean. I didn’t even leave the city and downtown was close by…and yet these 7-8 hours of just sitting, walking and lying on the beach brought the clarity that I needed, and which we all need at times. The same thing can be done in 15 minutes by just appreciating the things around us. Or can even be done every day, all day, as we go about our normal day. Answers come for the questions we have been asking, and sometimes we realize we are asking the wrong question and already know the answer to the question we should have been asking.
Take the view that this is a blessed journey. That your life starts this moment with the past simply being a road which has brought you to this place. The road continues to stretch in front of you, the only thing which needs to be decided is if you are going to take a little time each day to make that road enjoyable while you experience clarity and appreciate the journey, or if you go down the same road anyway, but miss the fulfillment of it?
When I sat down to write this, I hadn’t planned on writing most of what is now on your screen. I was going to provide the exercise to do, but that seemed to become a very small part of the post. So, I hope there was something in this which some of you may have needed to hear right now. And likely there is, because I needed to experience this today, as well as the other things which became much clearer today through these activities.
Posts will begin to be more regular on the site again. I am sorry for not posting much as of late, I have appreciated your emails and speaking with many of you. Your patronage in returning the site to see what is new is somewhat overwhelming to me. So thank you and please share your comments on any similar experiences, ideas, and theories etc on any of the posts. It is of great help to everyone when we can hear multiple ways of explaining things, so please share.
I find healing power and mana energy in nature as well; nature has a way of restoring our soul. lovely entry.
