“Naturally [your heart] is afraid that, in pursuing your dream, you might lose everything that you’ve won.”
“Well, then, why should I follow my heart?”
“Because you will never again be able to keep it quiet. Even if you pretend not have heart what it tells you, it will always be there inside you, repeating to you what you’re thinking about life and about the world.”
-The Alchemist, By Paulo Coelho (129)
The above dialogue is about pursuing the life each of us individually wants. Once we desire something, that desire is there and it can dulled and beaten down, but it is never totally silenced. When we try to stop it we only create problems for our self, we become bitter we have not listened, and we become angry at others for listening to their hearts. We become jealous and envious of those who’s hearts led them to fortune or a life we desire.
The heart knows what it needs in this life, and it will not be silenced. If try to stifle the bellows of our heart, it is likely us who will spend our days yelling and screaming, whether externally or internally, for we have created a conflict within, and the heart is very strong…it is connection to the divine.
