Experience, experience, experience

I said something at the end of my last post in the Explaining God section which I know may have some people saying “Did he really mean that?”

This is what I said: Rather, God is simply everything and the quicker we come to that realization, the quicker we can begin to enjoy our life and enjoy all things in a guilt free fashion.

Can we really enjoy some things guilt free? Well, guilt is our own, something we create for ourselves. There is no such thing as guilt floating around in the universe. Each of us creates for ourselves this concept, and thus the feelings, of guilt.

So then the question becomes, can I really do anything? The answer is yes, you can. You can do anything you want, and God will not condemn you, for She has given you freewill. God knows that you will eventually find your way back to Him. You have many lifetimes to do it, if needed, and God does not experience time as we do, so relax. Strive to improve the way you live and your impact on the world, but don’t be so hard on yourself. Beating yourself up will only make things worse.

How will we all find our way back to God? God has created a universe that operates according to guidelines so that He does not have interfere, but that work in such a way we can’t help but eventually learn, and more importantly live by what we learn. We can learn through others, by certain teachings, or we can learn through experience. Experiencing is what we are on this earth for. For it is only through experience that we can learn, for even teachings have come from another’s experiences.

Through experiencing the world in all it’s glory we can begin to lead an amazing life, the life we were meant to lead. There is no need to continue in the suffering for we can learn those lessons simply by looking at suffering all around us. Since joy is a state we enjoy much more, why not be in that state more often?

So with that out of the way, lets move back to our original question. It was stated we can do whatever we want, but simply doing what we think we want will not always bring us joy. A criminal that has all the wealth in the world will not be happy, because by taking from and hurting others (what he thinks he wants to do), he has created an absolute reality for himself that the world is full people that will take and hurt from him! He has created for himself an absolute reality of perpetual anxiety. He has succeeded in the physical sense of attaining the things he wants or the power he craves, but has failed at being happy. Now, if we look at someone wealthy who has attained their fortune by doing something they love and does not create a reality of hostility or anxiety then likely they will be happy and rich. Take an author for example, who publishes spiritual literature to aid people. The environment he creates is one of love, and thus whatever wealth is created is viewed in the spirit of: the universe is abundant and their is no anxiety or fear attached to this life, only love. (I use wealth just as an example because it is on everyone’s mind it seems, but the concept applies to everything)

So we should pursue our passions on the level of our highest good. Only when we are acting and thinking on this level will be have peace and the things we intend for our life will seem to fall in our lap. You have probably known someone like this. Likely they were always upbeat and positive. You may have thought they were like that because all these good things happened to them, but it is the other way around. They were upbeat and had the right outlook on life, and good things started happening as a result.

How do we act in the highest good? Well, ask yourself your motives for doing something. And be honest! As an example, let’s look at sexuality. There is nothing wrong with sex, and when you think about it, sex is one of our greatest pleasures but we also attach pain too it. Sex is our greatest connection tool, even with a complete stranger! I know I lost some of you there, so just wait a second….

Many have negative views of sex because their experiences with it have been ones of someone else taking something from them. This is especially true for woman, who feel men sleep with them just to get off and there is not connection there at all (take some comfort, by not connecting with you, he is creating a reality where he feels he will not be able to connect with anyone). But if we begin to approach sex with a sense of giving and connection, not of “taking”, sex becomes an entirely different thing than we are accustomed to. Lust, which brings most most people together is the poison in many sexual encounters (and even relationships).

I will not go into how we remove lust, or how we can use it to create an amazing connection…leave that for a different blog. I just wanted to use an everyday example of something that can be made amazing, or can be a source pain and anxiety simple by how we approach it.

Truly give and you will never feel taken from.

We need to ask ourselves if we are doing something because it is good for ourselves and all parties involved, or is it simply a whim that may hurt us or others? This does not mean you can’t ask instinctively or out of carnal passion when the mood strikes us, but our overall emphasis in life must be to create the best life for ourselves and for those around us. By acting in this way we are giving, and in return others give to us.

This went off on a few tangents I did not expect when I sat down to write, but that is ok. In summary thought, we must experience all we can in life. Especially what we view as good, and we must do it in such a way that we are creating a better world within and around us.
