Understanding How It Works

The basic laws of the universe which I have talked about in previous posts come down to a couple points (although, there are a few additional points that will be made in future posts):
-Think like you already have
-You will attract what you think on many different levels
Everything else can be related to these key points.
So lets look at these laws or principles in more detail.
Think like you already have: First off, don’t make the mistake of thinking that this means you live beyond your means till you can afford it. It does not mean you spend money you don’t have (or can’t afford) because you have some whimsical thought that one day you will have the resources to pay it back. In fact, that kind of action or thought actually runs counter to the universe. So what does this mean then?
Think like you already have, is a state of mind. It is not wishful thinking, or daydreaming. Instead it is a knowing that if you think positively and affirmatively about something, it will come to pass. Not always exactly how you expect, but you will get what you are focusing on. It means that on every level you anticipate the arrival of your thought, and to take it one step further you already have it because you know it is coming. Like when you order something in the mail; you have done the work and the package is in the mail. It is yours already, now it is just a time issue. This point works in the same way.
So, is it just that easy. Well, obviously common sense will tell us that it is not. Let’s look at an example to see how this really all works. If I say that I want a certain woman, and all my thoughts shift to having that woman, will I get her? Well, my odds may improve, but she still has to agree. In other words, unless her thoughts about me line up with my thoughts about her, it may not happen. We need to understand that we can only control ourselves and influence things that are under our control. This still gives us an amazing amount of power because it does not mean other people cannot be involved in our world.
What do we do then to take advantage of what the universe is giving us through this principle? We need to be specific about we want, but not limit how the universe gives it to us. This means that we should focus on exactly the qualities we want in a partner, career, house, car, wealth, our status, etc, but let the universe determine how it comes. You may think you want a certain partner, a certain house or job, but the universe may have something better for you. And the only way the universe can give this to you is if you focus on the qualities of what you want and let it arrive by not putting restrictions based on other peoples thoughts. The universe nets out our thoughts on an individual and collective basis, so we must remember that we can only control generalities, and not specific people.
If you follow this, you will end up with what will make you most happy. It may not be with the partner you originally thought, or with the company you wanted a job with, but you will get a partner exactly like you were thinking about a job that is what you expected. When your intentions need to match up with someone else’s in order to achieve something, let the universe match up your intentions with the intentions of others. This is when things start to “fall into your lap”. All of a sudden you meet a new partner, find that perfect house, land that fantastic job, or find resources to launch your company, etc.
You will attract what you think on many different levels: Much of this principle was covered above; you will attract what you present to the world in the form of your thoughts and actions. If you think abundantly, you will receive abundance. No greater thing shows you have a fundamental belief that you have what you intend than giving to others. In all different ways give, and you will receive.
Once again this principle arouses a few questions and a few additional points that need to be made note of. You will attract on every level, and this may mean what you think you are asking for may not really be what you had in mind. If you intend to be very rich and keep accumulating more and more, what do you think will happen? Well, likely you will get rich, that is your first order desire. But there is also a hidden intent in the desire to accumulate, and that is a want to keep accumulating. If you are not careful you are going to attract a need to have more and more. This means likely you will never be truly be happy with the wealth you have accumulated…it will never be enough. Because by saying you want to keep accumulating, you are setting yourself for exactly that – WANTING MORE.
That example applies to many other things as well, not just wealth. People who intent to keep on increasing respect will once again feel unsatisfied, as they will continually want more respect, and having the respect of everyone is impossible because we can not control others. So, while these are specific examples we begin to see that we must be very sure of what we are intending for ourselves. Beware of all that you are attracting to yourself when you set a goal.
In conclusion, you should be specific about you desire for your life, but don’t limit how it will come (certain person, certain job, etc). Also be aware of all that you are attracting to yourself. You may get what you thought you wanted, but it will not be all it’s cracked up to be if you have not put in the proper analysis into what you truly want.
Note: I use the word “intend” often instead of “want” because we need to change how we think about things. If we think about “want,” we will receive more wanting in our lives. So I use the word “intend”, as by taking the word “want” out of my vocabulary I am creating a much greater possibility that my thoughts and actions will not simply bring about a state of more wanting.
